Trident Design, LLC works with independent inventors and innovative manufacturers to help them create game-changing products. We have invented and designed products in nearly every product category. Trident was founded in 2001 by entrepreneur, Christopher Hawker, who began his inventing career as a teenager designing and selling aquarium filtration systems. Building on the success of his earlier products, he soon branched into other product categories and formed a company to develop and commercialize inventions. Today, having brought over 50 products to market with a established team of designers,engineers,patent professionals and business development specialists, Trident is a full-service invention incubator in the spirit of Edison's Lab, offering product design, engineering, prototyping, branding, licensing, and consulting.

What sets Trident apart is the fact that we not only develop products for others, but we are also active inventors ourselves. We have licensed products for manufacture, manufactured them ourselves (including setting up manufacturing in China),developed successful e-commerce sites and directly sold our products into mass retail. This gives us a unique perspective on invention development services as we have experience with EVERY aspect of the product commercialization process. We know what it takes to succeed from all sides of the equation and can relate to the independent inventor, the corporate client, the manufacturer and the retail buyer.
Our approach to inventing
We practice what we call the Value Creation Method (VCM), where we start with an Idea, and then add value to that Idea through a series of Value Creating Activities (VCA), such as naming, branding, product design,engineering and prototyping. Invention is a form of investment, and each VCA increases the likelihood of success with the investment, as it brings the product closer to reality. The most important of the VCAs is Design, which is our core competency. Our products succeed because they reflect what we call the Perfect Product Pyramid: head-turning design, functional excellence, and breakthrough technology. A perfect example of the results of our approach is the award-winning PowerSquid. Featured in countless media stories (New York Times, Popular Mechanics, the Today Show and more) and sold virtually everywhere (Wal-Mart, Target, Radio Shack and more), this tentacled update to the power strip transformed its entire product category, driving substantial revenue for our licensee and spawning numerous copycats.
